Taking your group to the Ploughing in 2027
The National Ploughing Championships come to Boherkill Farm, Rathangan, Co. Kildare, from 21 to 23 September 2027. It's a grand day out for farm families, schools, clubs and neighbours travelling together.
A week later than you might expect
The Ploughing has shifted back a week in 2027 to steer clear of the Ryder Cup, played at Adare Manor on 17–19 September. If you always go the same week, double-check your diary.
Rathangan lies some 55–60 km from Dublin, heading south-west.

Expect a crowd
Around 243,000 people came through the gates over the three days of the 2026 championships at Screggan in Co. Offaly. Numbers like that slow country roads to a crawl, so set off early and leave plenty of room on the way home.
Waiting for the traffic plan
Before each event, the organisers, the National Ploughing Association, put out a traffic management plan along with shuttle-bus times. Parking, approach routes and any set-down for minibuses and coaches come from that plan, so pick-up times stay provisional until it's out.
Once it is, agree which entrance or car park your vehicle will use, and give everyone a meeting time and place. It's a big site, and it's easy to lose each other among the stands.
A long day for your driver
Between an early start, hours on site and slow traffic out, it's a long day. The driver's limits still apply: nine hours of driving a day, ten twice a week, a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours, and a minimum of 11 hours off before the next day's driving. Travelling from Kerry or Donegal? You may need a second driver or an overnight stop, so raise it when you ask for a price.
Coming from north Dublin on the M50? The barrier-free toll between Junctions 6 and 7 has no booth; if the vehicle isn't registered with a tag or account, it must be paid by 8pm the following day.
