Shore days from Cobh and Cork Harbour
Cobh is a lovely place to come ashore: you step onto the quay beside the Cobh Heritage Centre, right in the middle of a colourful harbour town. From there, a minibus or coach can take your group anywhere from Blarney to Kinsale.
First, check where your ship berths
Not every Cork call docks at Cobh. The Port of Cork also takes larger ships at Ringaskiddy Deepwater Quay, across the harbour, and smaller ones up at the Cork City Quays. Your pick-up point and drive times depend on which, so check which berth you're on before requesting a price.
At Ringaskiddy, the port suggests independent passengers take a taxi or bus to Carrigaloe for the train, or use the Passage West cross-river ferry. A pre-booked minibus saves your group all that juggling.

Choosing a day trip
Cork city lies roughly 18 km inland. Beyond it, you'll reach Blarney in around 20 minutes, Midleton in 25 and Kinsale in 30. Longer runs to Killarney (roughly 1.5 hours from Cork) or the Rock of Cashel (roughly 1.25 hours) are possible on a long call, but you'll spend much of the day on the road.
Work backwards from all-aboard: allow for loading, a headcount and traffic, then pick the stops that fit.
The train as a back-up
Cobh station faces the cruise berth, and trains reach Cork Kent in about 25 minutes, with extras on big-ship days. Mention it to everyone, so anybody who wanders off in town has an easy way back to the ship.
Some harbour sights need no vehicle at all. The Titanic Experience is in Cobh itself, and Spike Island is a ferry ride from the town.
Lines and flights
The cruise lines named on this page called at the Port of Cork in 2026; check the port's own schedule for your 2027 sailing. If your cruise starts or ends here, Cork Airport is about 25 km away, around 30 minutes.
Questions
Where do we come ashore at Cobh?
On the quayside next to the Cobh Heritage Centre.
Our ship is at Ringaskiddy. Does that change things?
Yes. Ringaskiddy is on the far side of the harbour, so give the operator the berth and the pick-up is planned there.
How long from Cobh to Cork Airport?
About 30 minutes for roughly 25 km.
Is Blarney doable on a port day?
Usually. It's about 20 minutes beyond Cork city, which is roughly 18 km from Cobh.
