Shore days from Dublin Port by minibus or coach

If your ship ties up in Dublin Port, you're about 4 km from the city centre: close enough for a relaxed day in town, or a trip out to the Wicklow hills or the Boyne Valley.

Stepping off in a working port

Cruise ships here berth within the working port, alongside freight and ferries, rather than at a stand-alone terminal. When you book, give the operator your ship's name and arrival date so they can confirm where your driver will meet you.

Double-check your itinerary too: some ships visiting the Dublin area anchor off Dún Laoghaire and bring passengers ashore by tender instead.

Terminals

  • Cruise berths inside the working port, east of the Tom Clarke Bridge

A day in the city

Merrion Square South has a set-down and collection point kept for cruise shuttle buses, and the Guinness Storehouse keeps its Market Street parking for coaches. With the city's bus gates closing some central streets to through traffic, the driver won't always take the obvious route, so leave a little slack in the day.

Out to Wicklow or the Boyne Valley

From the city, allow about 35–45 minutes to Powerscourt Estate near Enniskerry and roughly an hour to Glendalough. Heading north, Brú na Bóinne is 45 to 60 minutes away; you'll reach Newgrange and Knowth only on the visitor centre's shuttle, and groups of 15 to 30 need a pre-booked time slot. Coaches with more than 25 seats use the Dublin Port Tunnel toll-free.

Back in good time

Work your return back from all-aboard, not the sailing time, with room for traffic in the city, and count heads before you set off. Ships don't usually wait for tours booked independently.

Starting or finishing your cruise here? Dublin Airport is about 10 km away, 15 to 30 minutes by road. Cruise luggage is bulky, so tell us how many cases you have.
